Five things to do before you call anyone.
- Stay off the roof. Wet shingles and soft decking are how people get hurt. That's our job.
- Walk the yard with your phone. Dents in gutters, downspouts, window screens, and cars usually mean the roof took hits too.
- Write down the date and time. Your insurer will ask when the storm came through.
- Check the ceilings and attic. Fresh water spots and damp insulation are worth a photo.
